Carly Craddock, MSc, MBA (pictured) has been appointed to the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the NIHR Clinical Research Network West Midlands.
Professor Matthew Brookes, Clinical Director of the Network said: “We are delighted to announce that, following a competitive process, Carly Craddock - who has been outstanding in the role of joint Deputy Chief Operating Officer - has been appointed COO with immediate effect. In the last 15 years, Carly has made a major contribution to the progress of the Network and we are excited to see where she will take us in future.”
Carly commented: “I am looking forward to getting on with the job of making the West Midlands the best possible place to receive healthcare and social care, where research and innovation thrive. Thanks to the efforts of my predecessor Pauline Boyle, we are well placed to support the NIHR’s aim of improving the health and wealth of the nation through research.”
After five years in post, Pauline Boyle is leaving the Network to take up the position of Managing Director of Research and Development across both The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust.
Professor Brookes added: “Pauline has been an inspirational leader at the Network and her hard work and insight has enabled our teams to develop many new and unique strategic projects that have seen the Network develop and deliver during a very challenging time.”
Carly had been Deputy COO with the Network since 2018. Prior to that, she was a Research Delivery Manager, and before joining the CRN in 2007, she worked in research from the age of 23.
In October 2012 she was seconded to the NIHR Mental Health Research Network as Deputy Assistant Director, returning to the West Midlands April 2014.
The Network is hosted by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust.
