A total 62,870 people took part in research supported by the NIHR Clinical Research Network East Midlands in 2022/23, new figures show.

They were recruited into 937 studies across a range of medical specialities in Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Rutland and Northamptonshire.

In the last 12 months, participants have taken part in research across a range of settings including their local GP practice, hospitals, dentists and pharmacies.

Examples of the studies which participants volunteered include:

Study: LOLIPOP 100k

South Asians living in the UK are at high risk of both cardiovascular disease (CVD) and type-2 diabetes (T2D). The mechanisms are not known.
