People are invited to join a webinar to ask their questions of leading experts about diabetes research.

Three experts will be taking questions on Thursday 11 November from 7pm to 8pm about the latest developments in diabetes research. Visit Eventbrite to sign up.

The Zoom webinar is being held to mark World Diabetes Day on Sunday 14 November. Guests can put their questions to:

  • Dr Angus Jones, Associate Professor at the University of Exeter and an Honorary Consultant Physician at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. His research focuses on the management of diabetes.
  • Dr Katharine Owen, Associate Professor and Honorary Consultant in Diabetes at the Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism. Her topics of study include diagnosis of rare kinds of diabetes and type 1 diabetes including trials of immunotherapy treatments in newly diagnosed diabetes.
  • Dr Hermione Price, consultant diabetologist, Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer (University of Southampton). Her interests include the impact of diabetes on mental health.

Asking the questions and providing her own insights will be Dr Göher Ayman, who has type 1 diabetes and co-leads a James Lind Alliance Priority Setting Partnership, which aims to identify the most important questions for research to address.

Visit the Eventbrite website to sign up. Guests can enter their question into the sign up form and also ask questions during the event, in the text box provided.

Those unable to attend on 11 November can provide their email using the form to receive a video recording of the event, which will also be sent to those who attend.

The event will feature research supported by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), which is funded by the Department of Health and Social Care.
