Physiotherapy students are learning about the world of research as part of a series of work placements with NIHR CRN South London.
The project is a collaboration between King’s College London, Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and CRN South London. Three King's College London students are taking part in six-week work placements. The CRN team hosts the students during their placement. Throughout the placement, the students divide their time between the CRN and clinical academics within the Royal Brompton Hospital physiotherapy team.
Laura McCabe, CRN South London’s Co-Lead for Research Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Professionals (NMAP), said:
"Research is one of the pillars of practice for Allied Health Professionals (AHPs). I hope this placement gives the students some meaningful research exposure.
"Thank you to everyone who has helped to provide an engaging introduction to research for the students."
The students are learning with CRN South London the following about research:
- Different studies on the NIHR CRN portfolio and study set-up
- Using research systems
- The core values of the NIHR
- Conducting research in primary care and community settings
The NIHR is the largest funder of health and social care research in England. Find out more about AHPs on NHS England’s website.
