CRN South London’s new Deputy Chief Operating Officer is keen to amplify the work of the network to the widest possible audience.

Dawn Beaumont-Jewell joined the network from CRN North Thames in May, where she was a Research Delivery Manager. Her new responsibilities include helping to spearhead the work of the communications and Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) teams.

Dawn expressed her pride in how CRN South London has responded to the COVID-19 pandemic. She said:

“I am really impressed with the strong, inclusive leadership within the network from the senior management team. Everyone has been so kind and welcoming. The operational teams have done a fantastic job in how they have responded to the challenges of COVID-19.

“Over the next 12 months, I am looking forward to showcasing the work of CRN South London to the widest possible audience and in creating more opportunities to promote research on a Pan-London level. I’m also really keen to raise the profile of research nursing and to highlight the many career opportunities that are available.

“Patients are at the heart of what we do and I will be growing our PPIE team to reach out to more people. I’m really excited for the work ahead and proud to be a part of this network.”

Dawn also expressed her thanks to the team at CRN North Thames. She continued:

“I had a fantastic six years at CRN North Thames, which is the biggest network in terms of its patient population. I miss the team, but was keen on a new challenge and the chance to work again with Chief Operating Officer Dr James Lyddiard was too good an opportunity to turn down.”

Dr Lyddiard said Dawn will be heavily involved in the day-to-day work of the network. He said: “We are extremely lucky to have Dawn and I'm delighted to welcome her to our team. She brings a wealth of NIHR and CRN experience with her. With a nursing background, Dawn will bring additional coal-face knowledge that will augment the leadership team.”
