The research community from the West of England gathered to celebrate the incredible achievements of their colleagues at the Clinical Research Network (CRN) West of England’s (WE) first in-person award ceremony.
The event, which was held on Thursday 14 September 2023 at the Guildhall in Bath, recognised the work of CRN-supported staff during the last year (from April 1 2022) across 10 categories.
The atmosphere was electric as guests enjoyed the opportunity to meet colleagues, some for the first time face-to-face, and congratulate each other on the impact that their work has had on research delivery in the region.
The ceremony opened with an address from Dr Kyla Thomas and Ifan Jones, Clinical Director and Chief Operating Officer of the CRN WE, who expressed their gratitude for the hardwork and dedication of all those who make research delivery happen.
Ifan said: “We’re proud to be part of a community of over 1,000 people who work in research delivery across the West of England. Every single one of them has an important role to play in making research an integral part of health and care … which ultimately of course, is about saving and improving lives. A really important commitment that deserves recognition and celebration.”
Dr Stephen McGlynn, Deputy Chief Operating Officer said: “A huge congratulations to all of our winners and nominees! It’s been an absolute privilege to host our first face-to-face awards event in celebration of our incredible research delivery community, and there was such an inspiring and joyful atmosphere in the room.”
